Ski waxing

NB! This applies only to skis with waxable bases. Quick waxes are suitable for lower-priced recreational skis.

When buying new skis, or if the skis have been stone-ground, the waxing process should begin by impregnating the ski base with paraffin wax (“new ski preparation”). For this, you can use either special base waxes or soft warm-weather glide waxes.
Preparing new skis helps the glide wax last longer over the distance and also improves glide.
When preparing new skis, first clean the ski base with wax remover. Then melt the paraffin wax onto the base, allow it to cool slightly, scrape the ski base clean and brush it thoroughly.
Repeat the process at least three times.
Recommendations:
– use a very soft paraffin wax for the first impregnation,
– for racing skis, low-fluor paraffin wax may be used for the second and third impregnation,
– after the final impregnation, allow the ski base to cool completely.
