ZAMST FILMISTA supports for injury prevention

With active movement, recreational sport and competitive sport there is always a risk of minor injuries – everyone knows this. And many have also experienced it first-hand. Minor injuries pass in days, but if something more serious happens, you have to stay away from movement / sport for weeks.
I would like to stress here that we are talking about minor injuries that do not require surgical intervention.

Gone are the days when a support meant a piece of neoprene placed around a painful joint. A modern, technological support, on the one hand, takes the anatomical contour into account and provides support, while airy materials ensure comfort (read: breathability).

It must be mentioned straight away that there is a fundamental difference between medical orthoses and supports used in sport. Whereas medical orthoses restrict freedom of movement, dynamic or sport-oriented supports keep us moving – in other words, they do not restrict freedom of movement.

ZAMST has launched the thin and lightweight FILMISTA series supports, which can be used in everyday sport, do not hinder movement, are barely noticeable when first used and that you don’t even notice with regular use.

What is FILMISTA?

The FILMISTA series supports are designed to prevent injuries. The FILMISTA series supports are ultra-thin and are worn under clothing, against the skin. This is especially important with the ankle support, which, when worn under a sock, fits inside a running shoe. As non-slip materials are used, FILMISTA attaches firmly to the foot and prevents even the slightest slipping of the foot inside the running shoe.

The success of FILMISTA lies in its three-layer construction, in which each layer has a different strength and performs a different task.

The inner soft layer is skin-friendly and feels comfortable.

The middle one stabilises the ankle.

The third, outer layer is made of strong urethane, which prevents injury to the joint.

ANKLE PROTECTION (FILMISTA ANKLE)

The ankle is undoubtedly the most injury-prone area of the entire body. Footballers tape their feet before every match to keep their ankles healthy, basketball players are constantly worried about ankle injuries, and tennis players and other racket sports athletes pay close attention to placing the foot down correctly when moving sideways. And even on the most ordinary recreational run, you may twist your ankle stepping on a tree root or a kerb.
We all think that something like this won’t happen to me – until the moment it does.
When it does, a simple support is not enough and for a certain period you have to wear a strong orthosis, which, however, prevents normal running.
FILMISTA ANKLE is designed precisely to avoid such situations. When you go to play a ball game where you might get carried away, or go running on root-covered trails in the forest, prevent a possible injury.

And attention, long-distance runners too. For some it happens after 10 km, for others after 20 km, but sooner or later the legs get tired, the correct running stride becomes sloppier and the risk of injury multiplies. Think about it.

In addition:
FILMISTA ANKLE has already been on the market for a few years and today, for example, several football clubs in the Netherlands have made the use of FILMISTA ANKLE strongly recommended for young players.
In May this year, the NBA coaches’ association held a seminar-exhibition in the USA, where the coaches and doctors of 19 teams wanted to start testing FILMISTA ANKLE supports immediately.

WRIST PROTECTION (FILMISTA WRIST)

The wrist is the next place in the body that can get injured during sport and active movement. Anyone who has held a racket knows exactly how important it is to protect the wrist area. Anyone who has fallen on inline skates knows that the radius bones of the wrist are the first that can break. Even in the most ordinary running, in the event of a fall, it is the wrist that gets hurt first. Wrist injuries are much less common than ankle injuries, but according to orthopaedists,  (recreational) athletes with wrist injuries are frequent visitors to them.
Like other FILMISTA products, FILMISTA WRIST is also three-layered: the first is a soft and breathable material against the skin, and two layers are made of urethane of different stiffness.
The two-part fastening strap allows the wrist to be correctly stabilised, so that there is equal pressure and maximum support at the parts of the wrist with different thickness.
The loop fastening allows quick and precise fitting and pressure adjustment.

In addition:
FILMISTA WRIST is not only for injury prevention, but also for treatment. If the wrist has been injured, you can confidently use the FILMISTA WRIST support for stronger stabilisation of the wrist during post-traumatic rehabilitation.
FILMISTA WRIST supports have started to be used by professional basketball players.

KNEE PROTECTION (FILMISTA KNEE)

What causes knee injuries? Leaving aside “runner’s knee”, these are generally traumas, primarily traumas sustained in ball games, or falls.

Particularly injury-prone are injuries to the lateral and medial collateral ligaments, caused primarily by the strong contact nature of ball games (rugby, American football, basketball).
There are also many patella injuries, especially in women,  when the patella moves out of place. Also meniscus tears when landing badly from a jump or making a quick change of direction.
A common injury among volleyball and basketball players is the so-called “jumper’s knee”, i.e. injuries to the kneecap tendons. To avoid these traumas, it is advisable to use FILMISTA KNEE supports, either with or without knee pads.

FILMISTA KNEE has relatively light support and is intended primarily for injury prevention, not treatment. Like other FILMISTA products, FILMISTA KNEE is exceptionally thin and does not interfere with sport. The first layer of the three-layer material is skin-friendly, allowing FILMISTA KNEE to be worn directly on the skin, while the second and third urethane layers have different strengths to stabilise the knee while allowing the mobility needed for sport.
FILMISTA KNEE replaces conventional knee taping.

In addition:
For runner’s knee (ITB syndrome) there are the specially designed supports RK-1 and RK-2.
