A NEW STANDARD IN SKIING “SKATE X”
A challenge for every day.
Are you ready to completely transform your skiing experience?
Rottefella, together with Madshus and Alpina, has brought a completely new standard in skate skiing to the market. The ski is attached to the boot not at the toe, but under the ball of the foot. For the average skier, this kind of attachment is more familiar from the cycling world, where all cycling shoes attach to the pedal precisely under the ball of the foot.
Introducing the Elite 3.0 SKATE X collection – skis and boots that are now also available to recreational skiers! This equipment was created by Rottefella and Alpina and has by now won very strong support from the world’s top skiers.
So what is the new SKATE X?
As already mentioned, instead of the traditional binding where the ski attaches to the boot at the toe of the boot, the new SKATE X binding has been moved under the ball of the foot. Thanks to Rottefella’s development work, a result has been achieved where the boot can be attached so that the height of the ski binding remains the same as with the older Xcelerator ski binding.
Firstly, as the pressure point of the boot is under the foot, the skier can push off harder and apply more force to the ski push-off. As there is also no traditional binding rubber (flexor) that is compressed, the push-off is faster. The difference is tiny, but given the time gaps between top skiers at the finish, even a gain of a tenth of a second is important.
The second thing that has changed significantly is the width of the boot attachment point. While the older Xcelerator ski binding had an attachment width of 2 cm at the toe, the SKATE X binding is 4.5 cm wide. The force needed to turn the ski is much smaller, while the turning precision is significantly greater.
This means that the steering of the ski with the new SKATE X binding is clearly better. And the harder the conditions, the more the advantages of the SKATE X binding come to the fore. Several skiers have claimed that better ski control is particularly important in sprint skiing, where balance and control can be decisive.
The third big difference compared to the Xcelerator is the MOVE system in skate skiing. Depending on the track profile and snow conditions, it is possible to move the ski boot forwards or backwards while skiing. MOVE bindings have been used in the classic technique for several years. While in classic the aim was to improve the grip of the ski on climbs and glide on descents, in skate skiing moving the position of the ski boot above all gives a better feel for the ski and a higher-quality push-off in different snow and track conditions.
After all, the push-off is completely different when trudging through soft snow or skiing on an icy track, and on climbs or descents the position of the ski boot also changes the behaviour of the ski, both its glide and its edging. Thanks to the MOVE binding, we can make the most of our strength and technique in different conditions.
In summary, the new Rottefella Skate X ski binding together with the Alpina Skate X boot gives better ski speed, above all thanks to more efficient application of force throughout the whole distance, but also thanks to the possibility of moving the boot lengthwise to change the length and position of the glide zones.
What makes Elite 3.0 and Skate X so special?
Why choose the new Skate x skis and boots?
- Performance you can feel: The advanced carbon fibre construction makes the boots so light that you feel maximum energy transfer with every step – as if every push-off carried you forward by itself.
- Unrivalled control: For you, this means revolutionary lateral stability. Forget unsteady sliding – now you get complete control and confidence with every skating push-off.
- Better position at the finish: No need to be surprised that at the finish you are ahead of your former rival – you have used your strength more efficiently and been able to ski the last metres at full power
Elite 3.0 Skate X is not just equipment. It is your new competitive advantage, offered in a bold red, black and white design.
Swap your old boots and try the new technology. Make every ski outing more efficient.
And most importantly, the new SKATE X system is also trusted by the world’s strongest top skiers, such as Harald Østberg Amundsen. Sturla Holm Lægreid, Vebjørn Sørum, Johan-Olav Botn, the last two of whom received SKATE X skis/boots just before the IBU European Championships and immediately took 1st and 2nd places.
